Kaitlyn San Miguel (she/they) is a queer Filipino writer, publishing professional, and academic based in the New York metropolitan area. She graduated summa cum laude in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers

University–New Brunswick, having double-majored in English & Journalism and Media Studies and










minored in Comparative and Critical Race and Ethnic Studies. She obtained her Master of Liberal Arts from Johns Hopkins University in 2022. Her academic work has received numerous university and department awards and been presented at a national conference. Her research interests include Filipino American literature, Filipino mythology, postcolonial theory, queer theory, and Marxist theory.

Kaitlyn has held internships with both academic and trade publishers, from editorial to content management. After graduating from college, they worked as an editorial services assistant at HarperCollins Publishers, serving adult imprints. They are now a production editor at Atheneum Books for Young Readers. They are also a freelance copyeditor and proofreader for Penguin Random House, HarperCollins Publishers, Simon & Schuster Children’s Book Publishing, and Astra House.

Kaitlyn’s poetry and short stories have been published in Bodega Magazine, Cosmonauts Avenue, petrichor, and Black Fox Literary Magazine.
